About us

Emmanuel church is a mission of the Presbyterian Church in America (a national denomination that holds to the historic truths of Christianity). We opened our doors for public worship on October 14, 2007 and currently hold our worship services in the auditorium of Compton Elementary School in Powder Springs, GA (located at 3450 New Macland Road, Powder Springs GA. 30127).

We are bilingual

If you visit our church you will notice that most everything in our worship service is in English and Spanish. We realize that in America, English is not necessarily the only language that is spoken today. Therefore our songs and prayers are in English and Spanish so that both our English and Spanish speaking brothers and sisters can worship God in their native “heart” language together.

Why “Emmanuel?” – What’s in a Name?

In the Bible (Matt 1:23), the word “Emmanuel” means “God with us.” We believe in God and we believe that God is much more than just a transcendent, unknowable being. Rather (as the name implies) He is in fact WITH US in every aspect of life. This truth was made a reality by Jesus Christ. Because God has enabled us to believe this truth, it is our desire to know and experience and worship Him in every area of our lives. We realize we are not better than anyone else. We are sinners, not deserving of any good thing from God. This is why we rely upon His grace totally. We want all the implications of God's grace worked deeply into our souls and then worked out in our families, our workplaces, our neighborhoods, and our community.
